For laying the floating cork floor requires a minimum of knowledge or skills. The surface of the substrate must be dry, clean and even.

Placement of the floating cork on the floor

Advise 1.
Before installation, measure the room, to understand how many boards you will need. If the installation is to be laid directly on a concrete foundation along an aligned and primed rough screed, then it is required to lay a layer of waterproof polyethylene film to exclude moisture transfer from the concrete screed; and on top – a roll cork substrate with a thickness of 2 mm, which neutralizes minor surface irregularities. In a wooden house with wooden ceilings, you can do it without a film. These cork covers are classified as “floating” floors, and therefore it is impermissible to fix the covering directly to the base.

Advice 2.
The laying can be started from any wall perpendicular to the windows. The plates are joined (“snapped”) by the respective sides and have a displacement of at least 30%.

Advise 3.
As we have already said, floating cork flooring  is laid on the system “floating floor”, as when laying, tiles are not attached to the base. At the same time, it is necessary to provide for the possibility of changing the linear dimensions of the floor cork cover in the laying plane, for which compensation gaps are left around the perimeter of the room.

Advise 4.
Plinths are not attached to the tiles of the cork cover, but to the walls so that there is a gap between the plinth and the floor surface in the thickness of the sheet of paper. Due to this, it is possible to linearly deform the cork floor covering within the compensation gaps left along its perimeter. These gaps should also be where the floor meets the pipes of radiator batteries, built-in kitchen furniture and appliances, various frames and fasteners, such as spiral staircases, etc.

Advise 5.
In rooms with an area of more than 100 square meters , the compensation gap should be 10-15 mm. With an area of more than 10 m, it is necessary to provide compensation gaps every 10-15 m. Such gaps are usually masked with paddles. Floating cork floors are ready for use immediately after the installation.
