Cork properties

Cork is the most environmentally friendly material. The bark of the cork tree is not only a material for wine cork, but also for crafts, bags, shoes, various floor coverings and much more. Today, the scope of cork oak bark application is quite impressive. It is used in various areas of modern industry. And all due to its unique properties:

Lightness, tight and elasticity (excellent ability to restore the original shape and cushion effect properties)

Impermeability for liquids and gases

Low thermal conductivity (anticondensation and thermal insulation properties)

High level of hygienity

Low sound conductivity (anti-reverberation properties)

Resistance to chemical agents

Fire resistance

Long life time

The significant slip resistance, unique and heat-insulating properties, create a pleasant feeling when walking and have a beneficial effect on the musculoskeletal system. The cork is a fine insulator of impact noise, does not accumulate static electricity (does not attract dust) and does not emit any harmful compounds.

Reduce the load on the spine while walking

Reduce the background radiation

Since this material has the good heat and sound insulation properties, it is actively used in the construction and decoration of premises. This material is very durable, warm and fast.

The cork does not absorb foreign smells, for example, tobacco smoke.

It does not electrify unlike many synthetic materials, does not accumulate static electricity and does not collect dust.

Very important that cork materials are not sensitive to the effects of chemicals that we use in everyday life.

Talking about floorings made of cork, we can confidently say that they can withstand the significant loads. The cork has a high ability to restore its original shape. This is due to its structure, which reminds honeycombs. Their walls are multilayered and consist of lignin and cellulose, cellular cells are filled with nitrogen and oxygen and do not contain carbon dioxide. It’s easy and pleasant to walking on such a floor. The steps are almost not audible, because the cork absorbs sound, The cork material perfectly absorbs, having a beneficial effect on the musculoskeletal system.

Cork is not attractive for termites and rodents. It does not rott and waterresistant. It can be used as finishing material for both dry and wet rooms. The special factory processing protects cork coverings from fungi and insects, that prevents their planting inside. It does not mold and protected from the development of pathogenic microflora inside, which is very important when it is used for decorating the living quarters.

The cork material does not support combustion and does not emit harmful substances when heated.

Cork materials do not require special care.

It should be said that the cork is used not only for interior decoration, but also for the exterior. Cork agglomerate is especially relevant for the construction of a private country house. (Cork agglomerate is a product made of the cork oak bark, obtained through heat treatment, baked at a temperature of more than 350 degrees and abruptly cooled by steam.)

During the cork production, the binding agent is not used, i.e., there is no chemistry. Therefore, it is naturally baked as a pie, in a results a large cube is produced and cut on panels of different thicknesses. Agglomerated cork is 100% heat retainer, it has a unique thermal insulation, anti-vibration and soundproofing features. The agglomerated cork is UV resistant, used for rooms insulation, for the installation of roofs, as well as for the decoration of facades. It has a very wide range of applications: thermal insulation of external and internal walls, floors, noise shockproof, insulation of air noise of suspended ceilings, heat and sound insulation of pitched roofs and much more. Agglomerated cork is resistant to the influence of hydrocarbons, UV resistant, used in construction of: facades, walls, interior ceilings, floors. Agglomerated cork in combination with other materials can be used as a panel that could absorb various sounds as far as the material does not contain synthetic binders, protein, therefore, does not rot, mold, or attract any rodents or insects. The fact that the cork itself does not support combustion is very important. The material only smolders, and does not release any harmful or toxic components into the environment.
